Rainy Days...

I’m nearing the end of the semester, and we’ve had a few days of rain and a lot of extreme heat; my creatures are restless. I want to take a few moments to talk about how we deal with these types of days.

We are big fans of kongs. The sky is the limit as far as what you can use to stuff them, so the dogs don’t get bored. Some of our favourite ingredients are full fat yogurt, peanut butter, bone broth, chicken or beef stock, ground meats, pumpkin, squash, cheese whiz, ice-cream, canned meats, and kefir. I will also give the dogs their meals frozen on hot days.

There’s a big variety of interactive games available on the market, but we like the Nina Ottosson games. They are a good quality long lasting game.

I also try to to make individual time for each of the dogs. It can be ten minutes where we work on a behaviour or trick, or maybe a short grooming session or nails. My current crew are all dogs that need individual time to really thrive. That’s my sanity time.

So, that’s a short and sweet post on how we keep sane. There are three weeks until the end of the semester, but I’ve still got some fun things planned before then. I just have to buckle down and get through it. Last assignment of the semester is due in 46 hours.. Not that I’m counting or anything….
